Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
You know how people always say the best day of their life was either their wedding day or the days their children were born? Is that really true, or is that just something people say because it’s expected? Is it okay that neither of those days are my best day? My wedding day was great, but I spend most of it super nervous and stressed out. The day Jo was born was life-changing but also so exhausting and disorienting I was barely conscious.
I think the best days are ones you don’t begin in anticipation of anything special happening. Ordinary days in which magic just unfolds before you, without reason or agenda. It’s like when someone gives you a gift that’s not on your registry or wish list and it’s just the perfect thing, so exactly right you wonder how you didn’t even know you wanted it.
